Between 25 March and 10 April 2018 our family travelled around the North Island of New Zealand in a four-berth campervan.
This was our first time in a campervan and the first time our family had been to new Zealand and it was a trip filled with adventure, new experiences and lots of fun.
Here's how it worked out for us:
Day 1 - Auckland
Stayed at Ibis Budget Auckland Airport hotel
It was basic and defintely budget, but it was clean and comfy and a short walk from the airport. It suited us perfectly for a place to sleep while we waited for our campervan to be ready the next morning. The campervan depot was nearby to the hotel and the airport, but had closed for pickups by the time we arrived. It also had a great selections of restaurants, coffee shops and a small shopping centre across the road with a Countdown (Woolworths) and a discount variety store as well as banks, bakeries and clothing shops.
Day 2 - Auckland to Matakohe (1hr 45 mins - 135 kms)
Stayed at Matakohe Holiday Park -
Day 3 - Matakohe to Kaihu, via Dargaville (1hr - 78 kms)
Stayed at Kauri Coast Top 10 Holiday Park -
The Coromandel Peninsula
